How can you teach a young child to play piano? Let's Play Music is a great new fun way to learn piano in a group setting starting at ages 4 - 7. This popular three year program was developed ten years ago by Shelle Soelberg and it uses proven fun techniques from well-known, respected methods in Music Education. These methods are combined to provide a complete and varied instruction in music including singing and solfege, rhythm and movement, and piano concepts and techniques. A homework binder, CD, and mallet instrument is also taken home to reinforce techniques learned in class. All of this leads to a more solid understanding of music, chords, and piano skills than is normally learned of three years of piano lessons. The lessons involve alot of moving and play to fully engage them in learning. Each song is so much fun and learned in playful ways, yet later reveals its purpose in teaching a new musical concept and masterfully builds each week. And because of the group setting, all of this is achieved for about half the price of traditional private lessons.

Let's Play Music starts every Fall. Spots are available now for the 2010/2011 year here at Family Music Studios. There are two available spots for the current year and a catch-up lesson or two can included for those starting late. Next year's classes will be Thursday afterschool. This year's classes are on Tuesday at 4 and 5 pm. You can e-mail me at colleen.musicmom@gmail.com if you wish to register. The materials ($85) and registration fee ($15) must be paid before registration is complete. After contacting me to ensure spot available, you may register online and even use paypal to pay the initial amount. The tuition thereafter is $350 a year, also payable in eight installments of $45.
